NEOTEC was founded by Marcel Guzmán de Rojas Wesner in 1988 as a technology development company. Our first products were SID, a database server, application server and a powerful software development tool and CONTAB, an accounting application fully developed with SID.
SID is particularly important to NEOTEC, it is the seed of our innovation culture and research and development discipline, values that we all share in NEOTEC. SID is an innovation that enables rapid development of complex, efficient, portable and robust software applications. Development time is significantly reduced with SID’s visual development tools, a unique and novel feature in 1988. SID was born with client-server architecture, making SID a fast, efficient and scalable database server, seed of our performance oriented culture. In 1992 SID was the first application server that recognized the mouse and implemented the button concept. In 1996 SID offered a universal data repository capable of storing objects of up to 2GB in a database field, when other database products were limited to 64KB. This feature allowed NEOTEC to develop applications that could store MS Word documents and high resolution pictures in a SID database, essential feature of any case tracking and criminal investigation system. If a specific software feature is not available at a reasonable price, NEOTEC has the capacity to develop the feature.
In 1989 NEOTEC released SIMONEL, an electoral results system, our first electoral product. SIMONEL has been used in several countries offering accurate and trustable electoral results in a few hours. One of the recent implementations of SIMONEL was for the Guatemala general elections in 2003: www.elecciones2003.org.gt. NEOTEC has also developed the REGINA voters list and civil registry software application and performed elections consulting, strategic planning and electoral observation services ever since.
In 1992 NEOTEC completes the ERP solution for manufacturing and retail sectors in Bolivia, including accounting, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, budget, inventory, sales, and payroll modules.
In 1995 NEOTEC developed IANUS (i2c) after being awarded with a contract to develop a case tracking system for the Santa Cruz District Court in Bolivia. The success of the implementation of IANUS in Santa Cruz leaded to the national deployment in District Courts and the Supreme Court. Since 1995 NEOTEC offers software solutions, process engineering and consulting services for justice administration.
In 1996 NEOTEC developed INSPECTOR (I2p) an integrated case tracking and criminal investigation system that was implemented at the District’s Attorney offices in Santa Cruz. In 1997 the system was installed in other District’s Attorneys offices and later on at the Attorney General’s office.
Also in 1996, NEOTEC becomes the first Latin-American company that exposed at the CeBIT, the worlds largest IT trade show, with an own stand (not shared nor government sponsored).
In 1997 NEOTEC offers products and consulting services for Linux including consulting for deployment of open software solutions, Linux based servers as routers, firewalls, web and E-Mail servers, distributed databases, security, etc. SID and all NEOTEC application software were also ported to Linux.
In 2000 NEOTEC performs and IEI (Inter-Enterprise-Integration) project interconnecting the District Court, the District Attorney’s Office and the Police. NEOTEC facilitated the information exchange agreement, designs the procedures and interconnection architecture and implements the solution.
In 2004 NEOTEC initiates the i3 project staring it’s design and development. i3 is the new version of IANUS and INSPECTOR (i2), developed on the Java/J2EE platform. A complete rewrite of i2 is performed incorporating 9 years of successes and lessons learned in case tracking, criminal investigation, justice administration and inter-institutional integration.
In 2004 NEOTEC sells the ERP division to PANATEK with the purpose to focus in the various applications of case tracking and personal identification. The case tracking and personal identification knowledge and technology is also applicable to health services management, banking, insurance and other application still to be discovered.
All solutions sold by NEOTEC since it was founded in 1988 are still in operation today. We have permanently updated our products including the support of new platforms, always preserving the data. Our first customers started with Netware servers and DOS workstations; they continue using modern versions of our solutions with servers under AIX, Linux, Windows 2000 Server, etc and with workstations under Windows XP and Linux, with over 17 years of valuable history stored on their databases. |
